Welcome to TRIAX. TRIAX is a game of Triangles. The object of TRIAX is to try and locate all the RED Triangles on a board, mark them, and clear the rest of the board. There are many different types of triangles, and each gives you different types of information about where neighboring 'Reds' are. As skill level increases, more types of triangles will be introduced. TRIAX requires the ability to combine different kinds of information logically to determine which triangles are safe to clear.
Red Triangles are what you are trying to locate and mark (but not expose) - all the other triangles give you some information about where any neighboring 'Reds' are. If you reveal one of these triangles, the game is over. The higher they level of difficulty, the more of these 'Reds' will be in the board. You can see how many of each type of triangle is in each board during the game by the small triangles and numbers by the timer. You can also see how many 'Reds' and 'Non Reds' are left, in the LED number boxes.
White Triangles are the most common. When revealed, the White Triangle will tell you, with a number by each side, how many 'Reds' are in the 3 triangles adjacent to that side, either none (blank), 1, 2, or 3. All triangles that give you information will give you information about these nine triangles (the three next to each side)
Yellow Triangles are the 'Sum' triangles. The indicate with a single number in their center, how many 'Reds' total are in all nine adjacent triangles. These are similar to the White triangles, except all three sides are summed up in one number. In the example shown, there are two 'Reds' in the neighboring 9 triangles, so the Yellow triangle has a '2' in its center.
Purple Triangles are the 'Liar' triangles. They tell you how many 'Reds' are adjacent to each side - but ONE of the sides is 'lying' and off by 1. In this example, one of the sides with a single adjacent 'Red' has a '2' instead of a correct '1' - that is the lying side. Once you know which side is 'lying' you know the other two sides are accurate and can trust that information. Remember, the 'lying' side is always off by exactly 1.
Blue Triangles are the 'Equality' triangles. They indicate that each side has the same number of adjacent 'Reds', from, 0 to 3 as the other sides Once you know how many 'Reds' are on a single side of a 'Blue', you know how many are on each of the other two sides. Blue triangles appear in unpredictable numbers, even on the same level of difficulty.
Orange Triangles are the 'Late' triangles. They tell you how many 'Reds' are adjacent to each side, like White triangles do, but only after you've revealed one of the triangles on that side. Until you expose one of the adjacent triangles per side, that side will show a '?'. Once you have cleared one of the three triangles next to a side with a '?' you can RE-CLICK on the Orange triangle, and it will then give you the information on that side, but not before!
Black Triangles are the 'Enigma' triangles. They don't give you any information whatsoever and just take up space. All you can hope for is that you dont have too many of these to deal with.
Once you have determined that a triangle is a 'Red' you may mark it by holding the shift key down, and tapping it, OR by dragging the marker triangle and droping it onto the triangle you wish to mark. This will turn that triangle Green and mark it with a flag. Marked triangles are safe from accidental clicking - you must hold the shift key down and tap to 'unmark' one of these. You may incorrectly mark a triangle that is NOT a 'Red', so be careful!
You may also pause your game, and this will cover your screen (so no analyzing the board while it is paused - that would be cheating!)
The fastest times for each level are recorded, along with the name, and a comment by the player. At the beginning of each level, the fastest player to date and their times for the level is displayed.
Scoreboard/Timer - indicates how many of each Triangle are on the current level, how many Reds and Non Reds remain, and how much time has elapsed.
